How to Use Our Website
We have made Direct Holiday Properties as easy to use as possible, hopefully our guide below will help you find the perfect property to rent in the sun:
How to find a property:
Search our listings either by Country or using the more advanced search. Our property adverts have a unique "Add ID" a good tip is to note the Add ID for future reference, enter the Add ID into the "Property Ref" box on the front page and click the "Find" button.
Contacting the Owner:
All contact is made via our online forms, this is simply to help combat spam, please remember owners could be abroad and may take a couple of days to reply although in most cases we have found replies are made the same day. Many owners list a telephone number we suggest emailing first though due to different time zones.
How to Book
Property owners have their own way of taking bookings, you should expect to make a deposit of around 10% to secure the booking depending on the time scale Owners normally take payment by either cheque, bank transfer or online payments. A payment should be confirmed by letter or email as proof of payment. The balance is normally due around 8 weeks before the start of the holiday. It is the norm to expect to pay a breakages deposit which will be refunded providing no breakages are made. Check with the owner what is included in the case of Gas/Electricity/Water and telephone if any.
Check any cancellation terms with the owner at the time of booking, deposits are often non-refundable and they may have a scale of charges for cancellations. We suggest that you ask for any terms and conditions in writing.
Upon Arrival:
Most owners will send through full directions to the property, make sure you have the full address. Many owners will send a key in advance others may live close by or will have a representative will meet you in which case make sure you have a contact number.
Problems:
Owners leave instructions or a telephone number for themselves or a representative. If you have a problem such as equipment failure please contact them straight away this way any problems can be sorted out, never leave it until you return home.
Travel Insurance:
Always make sure you have adequate travel insurance cover, should you have any medical problems such as high blood pressure etc make sure the insurance company know. We reccomend taking a look at our travel insurance section:.
